Our Lawyers

Vu Thu Hang

With more than 15 years of practice, Ms. Hang, the managing partner of HPLaw, has gained rich legal experience involved domestic as well as international matters in areas such as securities, M&A, corporate, competition and intellectual property rights. Before joining HPLaw as a partner, Ms. Hang worked as an associate at Baker & McKenzie (Vietnam) Limited for nearly 6 years. Ms. Hang also headed Mekong Securities Joint Stock Company’s Legal and Compliance Department where she was deeply involved in various forms of capital transactions in the Vietnam financial and securities market. She also played an active role in monitoring compliance and risk management activities of the securities company in light of strict regulations issued by the State Securities Commission.

Ms. Hang has acted as a legal consultant for the USAID-Funded "STAR" project for more than 5 years and has provided comments for various draft laws and implementing regulations such as the Competition Law, the Enterprise Law, the Investment Law, the Securities Law, and the Commercial Law.

Ms. Hang received her M.A. in 2004 from the University of Northumbria, School of Law in the UK and her B.A. from the Ho Chi Minh City College of Law. She also holds a MBA degree from Bolton University, the UK. She is a member of the Ho Chi Minh City Bar Association and the Vietnam Bar Federation.

In addition to Vietnamese as mother language, Ms. Hang can speak and advise clients in fluent English.

Tran Ngoc Hai

Mr. Tran Ngoc Hai has more than 11 years of experience in consultancy and litigation in fields of investment, construction, bidding and foreign trade. Mr. Hai is also an expert in dispute resolution at the court as well as arbitration through involvement in various complicated disputes in commerce and employment.

Mr. Hai has advised a number of high-profile clients on bidding for equipment procurement and construction. Some of his typical projects include equipment procurement for Tan Son Nhat International Airport, cable system installation and construction for Ba Ra Mountain, construction of Vinh Tan 4 Thermal Power Plant and Coastal Thermal Power Plant 3.

Joining HPLaw as a Co-counsel, Mr. Hai is now specializing in dispute settlements regarding commercial contracts, litigation, arbitration, advising on bidding process, equipment procurement and construction project.

Mr. Hai obtained his B.A from the Hanoi Law University in 2001. He also holds a B.A of commerce from the Ha Noi Foreign Trade University. He is a qualified lawyer of the Ho Chi Minh City Bar Association and a member of the Vietnam Bar Federation.

In addition to his native Vietnamese, Mr. Hai can speak English fluently.

Tran Thanh Son

With nearly 11 years of practice, Mr. Son has gained rich experience in M&A advisory including securities, valuation and financial due diligence, accumulated through transaction services to local and foreign companies. Mr. Son has advised for both sellside and buyside in M&A transactions; therefore, he has a deep understanding of both sides’ concerns. Before joining HPLaw as Special Counsel, Mr. Son worked at KPMG and Mekong Securities as Manager in Advisory Services, and advised for more than 30 M&A transactions in various fields such as manufacturing, plastic, seafood, rubber, retail, media and advertising industries.

Mr. Son received his MBA degree in Columbia Southern University in 2010, and obtained his BBA in 2005 from Van Lang University.

In addition to his native Vietnamese, Mr. Son can speak and advise clients in fluent English.

Nguyen Phuong Ha

Ms. Nguyen Phuong Ha is an experienced lawyer in commerce, corporate, contracts, and intellectual property rights. Particularly, with many years of experience of advising on real estate and construction companies, Ms. Ha has gained deep legal experience in investment, construction areas and contract matters related to real estate and construction business. Joining HPLaw as an associate in 2013, Ms. Ha specializes in domestic and foreign investment, M&A, contracts and intellectual property rights.

Ms. Ha received her B.A from the Ho Chi Minh City University of Law in 2007 and is a member of the Ho Chi Minh City Bar Association and the Vietnam Bar Federation. Ms. Ha is currently pursuing further eduaction for the Master Programme in the USA.

           In addition to Vietnamese as mother language, Ms. Ha can speak and advise clients in fluent English and basic French.

Nguyen Tieu My

Nguyen Tieu My is an experienced lawyer advising clients in domestic and foreign investment, licensing, environment, construction, corporate, etc. Before joining HP Law in 2012, Ms. My had more than two years of practice at Viet Nguyen Lawyers. During that time, she had gained experience in corporate, employment and contract law. At HP Law, Ms. My has developed her experience in various sectors including foreign and domestic investment, infrastructure, environment, and litigation.

Ms. My earned her B.A from the Ho Chi Minh City University of Law in 2008. Ms. My is currently a member of the Ho Chi Minh City Bar Association and the Vietnam Bar Federation.

In addition to Vietnamese as mother language, Ms. My can speak and advise clients in fluent English.

Nguyen Thi Thanh Ha

Nguyen Thi Thanh Ha earned her B.A in law from University of Economics and Law (formerly known as Economy Faculty – National University of Ho Chi Minh City); she completed her training at the Lawyer Profession Training Course held by the Institute of Justice.

Before joining HPLaw, Ms. Ha has practiced in some prestigious law firms in Ho Chi Minh City such as VinaLaw.

At the moment, Ms. Ha specialized in domestic and foreign investment, merger and acquisition, commercial, civil, and employment.

Ms. Ha can speak and advise clients in Vietnamese and fluent English. 

Phan Trung Viet

Phan Trung Viet obtained his bachelor degree in law from the HCMC University of Economics and Law (formerly known as Economy Faculty – National University of HCMC) in 2009. He also completed the Lawyer Profession Training Course held by the Institute of Justice in 2012.

Before joining HP Law, Trung Viet worked as a paralegal in YKVN, one of the top tier law firms in Vietnam for more than four years, and then in an international company engaging in FMCG in the position of in-house counsel for more than one year. During his previous employment, Trung Viet gained deep legal experience in the field of corporate, investment, M&A, litigation and employment matters.

Working as a Trainee Solicitor in HP Law, Trung Viet is now focusing on foreign investment, M&A and commercial contracts.

Trung Viet can speak and advise clients in Vietnamese and fluent English.

Dao Ba Ha Minh

Dao Ba Ha Minh graduated from Ho Chi Minh City University of Law in 2006 and then obtained his Master Degree of Commercial Law from Deakin University, Australia in 2010. He also completed the Lawyer Profession Training Course held by the Institute of Justice in April 2017.

Ha Minh experienced his apprenticeship as an accountant with Abaki Pty Ltd, Australia from 2009 to 2012, where he was accountable for preparation of financial accounts and reports. From the day back to Vietnam since October 2012, Ha Minh worked as a legal counsel and specialized in maritime claim and collision at Dzungsrt & Associates LLC, a boutique shipping & ADR law firm, for nearly four years.

Joining HP Law as a paralegal in 2016, Ha Minh is now specializing in IP, commercial, corporate, and litigation.

Apart from his native Vietnamese, Ha Minh can speak and advise clients in fluent English.
